PMV virus like Anaheim Angel Had

Birdman of long beach

The last photo the pigeon has PMV virus just like Anahein Angel had. It is a neurological disorder and a airborn virus that causes involuntary movements. Sometimes the pigeons will just put there head down to the floor for hours and its very sad. They walk and fall over like they are drunk. You can give them a vacine that last about a year to prevent them from getting it but once they have the PMV virus a vacine will do no good. Sometimes it takes weeks to months for them to get over the PMV virus if they survive and the biggest majority still have some involuntary movements for life. The story on Anaheim Angel was definitely a divine intervention without a doubt. I was on the bus on Anaheim St. and seen a pigeon that looked dead laying in the middle of traffic. Leave it to me to get off the bus and go see if there was any chance he was alive. It was rush hour and he was laying in the lane a car pulls into to make a left turn. I picked him up and there was very little life left in him but he was alive and only god knows how he did not get run over. I was not very familiar with PMV virus and I thought that he got hit by a car and had a broken neck. Some how I kept him alive a couple days before I realized he had PMV virus and thats why he had so little muscle control in his body. When I first picked him up he looked dead and was the most pitaful looking pigeon you ever seen. Well for weeks I hand fed him and little by little he started to regain strength. Then after weeks the PMV virus started to get better. He started standing on his own and before long it appeared he made a very rare hundred percent recovery. I would open the door to the rabbit hutch which was about a 5 inch by 5 inch opening and would stand across the room and let him fly right into that little opening over and over and for sure his recovery was a testimonial. In my almost nine years of rescue work he was my most amazing rescue and success story ever. He went over to my friend Bruce Caron's house to live in a big Aviary with a lot of other pigeons. I would have loved to keep him as my personal little buddy. But after what he survived and the zest for life he showed he deserved the opportunity to have some freedom and to find a mate. But for sure Anahein Angel you took a big pieece of my heart with you my little buddy and I will never forget you and I will always love you because we truly bonded.
