A couple of hours ago a dog that lives across the street from me had broken loose from his cable and he was going down the street being followed by a female Shih Tzu Puppy that still had her leash on her. I was able to coax the puppy with food close enough to me that I could quickly step on her leash. As I was taking her inside my trailer I could already feel she was covered with burr's and quite a few of them were on her feet and even between her toes the poor baby. I had already ask a few people outside if they knew who owned the dog and they said no. But the more I thought about it I was already dreading the thought of this beautiful little puppy going back to the people that allowed her to suffer so much pain being matted with so many burr's all over her body. Since moving in this Mobile Home Court I have seen so much neglect and abuse and it is very depressing living here. It's almost a curse my moving here but it's obvious all these poor souls really need my help. I immediately put a small flashlight in my mouth with a pair of scissors and started working on cutting off the matted burr's. I had already worked on the puppy quite awhile and somebody knocked on the door. It was a spanish woman and her daughter that lived on the corner across from me about five mobile homes down and it was their puppy. The daughter could speak english and I ask about the ton of burr's and her bimbo excuse was the dog would squirm and not stay still. Well it must be my magic charm because the sweetheart allowed me to do anything I wanted to do to her and she just kissed my face as I worked on her because she knew I was helping her. I told the woman I was cutting off the burr's and was half done and I would bring the puppy home after I finished working on her. So I spent about another 45 minutes getting the rest of the burr's off and trimmed all her nails. I can just imagine the relief the little sweetheart felt having that torture taken away. I rescued a poodle once in California that had hundreds of long prickers stuck in his body all over and it was so pitaful and I think somebody did it on purpose to torture him. Even if this spanish family used the excuse that the dog squirmed when they tried to remove the burr's. Why the hell didnt they take her somewhere and let someone who knew what they were doing remove them instead of allowing her to live a very tortured life. I thank God she ended up in my path today and I made a promise to myself to go to their mobile home every two or three weeks and check her condition. So I am happy today that I was able to save this gorgeous little sweetheart from suffering any longer. I will also ask for permission to help get her fixed in the near future.
