Birdman of long beach - Rooster Rescue

Birdman of long beach - U.S.M.C. Veteran

What makes this story really unique is we do not have Roosters in Long Beach Ca. as far as I ever knew and especially not in the downtown area. I live in a small 8 unit gated apartment building and we all have security doors that are hard to see through from the outside. One day my Pitbull Babygirl was at the door and whimpering like a mommy would over a puppy. I looked out and did not see anything. Then Babygirl started her whimpering again. This time I noticed Babygirl was nose to nose with a Rooster at our door on the outside. All I can figure out is my Guardian Angel directed this Rooster to my door because I would be the one to help it and I did. And the Rooster was obviously fearless because I know he could see my cats from outside and still it appeared he wanted to come in. You know finding a Rooster at your door in a city that does not have Roosters is like walking down the street and finding a million dollars and indeed this was a Divine Intervention. I was not familiar with Roosters and I had no idea how bad they could bite you or claw you  but I am a rescuer. I went out and kneeled down next to him and he did not fly off and I grabbed him. I put him in a oversized carrier and what a surprise at about 5 a.m. the next morning ( Cock a Doodle Doo ) loud about every 30 minutes and I was thinking my neighbors would be beating on my door any minute. Anyway I found out from Christina Jones who helps me with broken legs & wings from Southbay Wildlife that a man named Bob Ward of Wards Birds takes Roosters and works a lot with 4-H kids. So luck was with me and Bob Ward picked up this lucky Rooster that knew to come to me for help. Then not long ago a lady named Kat who I became friends with through care2 who rescues cats and brought me a injured pigeon. She called and told me about a Rooster needing help in her neighborhood in Bellflower that somebody dumped. I gave her Bob Wards phone number and Bob went over there and rescued the Rooster. Now yesterday my friend Bruce Caron that has aviaries in Lomita Ca. with lots of pigeons and lots of permanently disabled pigeons.Bruce has helped me quite a few times through the years taking pigeons off my hands and giving them a great home leaving me with more cages to do my rescue work. He even took two pigeons from me this last week that could not fly and were permanently disabled. Anyway I think LA Animal Control told him yesterday somebody abandoned a Rooster in a elevator and he went and rescued it. He was concerned about having the Rooster at his house very long because of the noise. I gave him Bob Wards phone number and Bob Ward picked it up yesterday. So that is the third Rooster already I sent to Bob Ward. It is so great when we can all work together as a team to save animals. Those are my Rooster stories ( ENJOY )  If anyone finds a injured pigeon in the Long Beach Ca. area please contact me - - I have rescued and doctored over 3,000 pigeons in 9 years.
