Each month Harmony Fund fills the bowl of every dog at the Hresa pound in Bosnia. On the whole, municipal dog pounds in this region are dreadful. The dogs here would previously starve, freeze or succumb to disease without veterinary care. But donations from all of you have enabled volunteers to create a better life for these dogs whose only ‘crime’ was not having a family to look after them. These outlaw dogs are locked up and scheduled to die. But our tiny rescue team is doing all we to provide food and care and to pull the dogs out of the pound and find them homes.
Winter is far away, but the local team has a chance to purchase some bargain-priced, used carpets that can be placed inside the Hresa shelter kennel boxes, underneath the straw. The kennels are very cold during winter and this layer of carpets would give them an extra layer of insulation from the ground.
We have enough food for the next 4 days, but we need to raise $645 to feed the dogs here for the month of August. We would be so grateful for donations to help. As many of you know, Harmony Fund is dedicated to helping ‘underdog’ animal rescue squads all over the planet. We feed dogs, cats, farm animals and wild animals in sanctuaries each and every month. Summer is a lean time for donations, but our work is as fast-paced as ever. In fact, we’d like to introduce you to Stella, one of the dogs we have been able to pull from the clutches of the Hresa pound during the height of winter.
Stella Needs a Home
Stella is now safe and such a happy girl. She is one of the lucky ones to escape the pound and she is staying at a boarding center (pension) where she patiently waits to be adopted. Stella just melts when she gets attention. She sinks into the touch of human hands on her fur. She seems so surprised by the sensation of affection, by receiving love. She and the other dogs have no idea how hard we work to raise enough funds to buy them food. It’s our job to simply find a way and there are certain missions we just can’t fail. Adoption inquiries for Stella may be emailed to us at firstname.lastname@example.org
